13 High Carb Foods To Avoid When You Want To Lose Weight

High-Carb Foods For Weight Loss

More protein and less carbs. Croc meat anyone?

You know what? Carbs is something that a lot of people try to cut down on when they follow different diets such as Atkins, LCHF (Low Carb High Fat) and Paleo.

If you haven’t already tried to cut down on carbs now is a good time to try it out and see if you see the same effects as many others before you have.

If you hardly know what a carbohydrate is and find it difficult to know where to start. Don’t worry, I have put together this post just for you.

It’s not the answer to all of your questions but if removing or drastically cutting down on these foods will set you on the right path.

  1. Fructose and Refined Sugar
  2. Soda and Drink Powder
  3. Dried Fruit
  4. Rice Cakes
  5. Cookies (low fat as well), Muffins, Cakes
  6. Bread (flour)
  7. Pasta (flour)
  8. Rice
  9. Potatoes (all kinds but especially french fries)
  10. Jam (high amounts of sugar)
  11. Fast food (pizza, fried chicken etc)
  12. Oatmeal
  13. Powerbars (not always a good choice)

I don’t think anyone have missed the sugar debate the past few years so it can’t be a surprise to see white sugar, jam, cookies and all those things on this list.

Everything with high amounts of sugar should be avoided.

When trying to cut out carbs a few years ago I got stuck. What do you eat if you can’t eat rice, potatoes and pasta (it’s even easier if you have a meal plan)?

Apart from vegetables and meat or fish carbs where a least 1/3 (sometimes a lot more) of my plate.

What  you can do, and I recommend that you try, is to increase protein sources and for that all kinds of beans are great. They really boring to eat as they are but mix it up with spices, olive oil and a red onion and it gets better.

Sometimes I mash the beans a bit with a fork and use it instead of mashed potatoes, for example. Quinoa is another great alternative to rice or potatoes.

I hate cottage cheese from the bottom of my heart, I think it’s disgusting on its own. But add some pieces of apple in there and it is eatable. Add salt and red onion and even I will eat it. Cottage cheese is low-carb and a healthy food so if you can eat it it’s a good choice.

It’s quite simple.

Stay away from high-carb foods (or cut down on it a lot) and replace it with other stuff including meat and vegetables!

Easy as that.
